Celebrating 100 years of serving businesses in Pine Bluff and Jefferson County, Arkansas.

Founded in 1911, the Greater Pine Bluff Chamber of Commerce continues to serve members and the community by being a champion for business in Jefferson County.

In 1995, The Chamber and the Jefferson County Industrial Foundation merged to create the Economic Development Alliance, providing Pine Bluff/Jefferson County with a more efficient and more effective community and economic development organization.

Pine Bluff serves as the Southeast Arkansas regional center for employment, business, health care, professional services and recreation. We also have a diverse manufacturing base that turns out goods such as automotive closure caps, cottonseed oil, paper and liquid packaging board, wood products, wire products, processed poultry, electric transformers and fabricated metals. We have two industrial parks that have the infrastructure necessary to make manufacturing and distribution operations successful. The 372-acre Harbor Industrial District at the port features available buildings and sites. The 785-acre Jefferson Industrial Park features a select industry mix, available sites for new construction, and a speculative shell building.

Jefferson County is in the heart of a rich agricultural area in the Arkansas River Basin. Leading agricultural products are cotton, soybeans, cattle, rice, poultry, timber and farm-raised catfish. Pine Bluff is a multi-modal transportation center: I-530, four U.S and five state highways; service by Union Pacific Railroad and BNSF plus a major UP electronic classification yard near our port; access to inland waterways ports and international ports; and air services 40 minutes’ driving time to Little Rock National Airport (and a local airport, Grider Field, with a 6,000-foot runway with ILS).

Our 3-county MSA population is over 100,000, and we’re part of the 14-county central Arkansas region with a population approaching one million. We are also home to a 4-year university as well as a 2-year community college known for its workforce training capabilities.

The community affords varied cultural and recreational activities. One focal point is the Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, which provides a broad spectrum of exhibits and events. Among a variety of concerts and events, the Pine Bluff Convention Center hosts performances by the Pine Bluff Symphony Orchestra. And sportsmen and outdoor enthusiasts are drawn to a variety of parks, ball fields, championship golf courses and premier fishing waters.

The Farmington Chamber of Commerce was organized as a non-profit corporation in 1963. It is an independent organization with the purposes of promoting the development of home sites, commerce and industry, as well as the interests of residents, landowners and businesses of the Town of Farmington, New York. The chamber recently celebrated its 45th anniversary.

A Look At Farmington,NY
Farmington, located at Exit 44 on the New York State Thruway (Interstate 90), approximately 25 miles southeast of Rochester, is recognized as one of Ontario County New York’s fastest growing business and residential communities, as more and more business interests are taking advantage of the many benefits that are positioning the bustling township as the epicenter of commercial and industrial activity in the Ontario County region. Many refer to Farmington as the “Western Gateway” to the famous Finger Lakes Region, boasting well over 11,000 residents. The town is still largely a farming community with a resurgence of small business and industry growing and becoming a core segment of the town’s thriving economy. Farmington offers an excellent quality of life – “Progressive Farmer Magazine” in 2006 rated Ontario County the number one rural county in the United States – hosting a number of town parks, educational opportunities and a mixture of suburban as well as country living.

A Look At The Farmington Chamber of Commerce
The Farmington Chamber of Commerce partners with Town leaders and local tourism agencies to help raise awareness of the burgeoning business and residential opportunities available to Farmington families and commercial interests. Small in relative number, the Chamber is a completely volunteer organization, driven by its passion to serve and grow its member businesses and local community. Through a dedicated and thoroughly professional volunteer board of directors, the Chamber is helping to forge a more closely-knit business-to-community relationship.
A major force behind this newly born sense of community is the Chamber’s recently minted division called the Farmington Business Council (FBC). We believe it is the first of its kind within the context of a small chamber of commerce structure. The FBC’s mission is to aid Farmington in developing existing business potential while attracting new business and jobs to the town. It is comprised of local member industry executives who meet regularly to identify common business problems and formulate solutions using their shared experience. Currently, the Chamber, through the FBC, has embarked on the largest single project in its history. Called the Gateway Project, it will involve the transformation of the town’s popular area known as the four corners (intersection of major Routes 96 & 332) into Farmington’s downtown, helping to personify the town.
The Gateway Project will involve four phases over the next several years, beginning with the town’s well-known Farmington Commons. The improvements will provide a corner gathering spot, a brick walkway leading to a central terrazzo plaza that will include bench seating and tables and will feature a central 360-degree visible clock tower, a first for

Farmington, among many other landscaping upgrades. The Chamber and FBC are currently selling personalized paver blocks to be placed in the walkway as well as major sponsorships for the main Archway and extending knee wall.

Other services provided by the Chamber include a new colorful and informative web site: farmingtoncofc.com, a quarterly e-newsletter and e-membership directory, plus chamber sponsored events such as the Annual Awards Dinner, business-building seminars and trade shows, as well partnering with other chambers, agencies and associations within the community and surrounding area.

Our Chamber mantra is “Come Grow with Us.” What more can we say?

Boulder is the only City in Nevada without gaming and home of the State’s number one tourist attraction, Hoover Dam. This is a wholesome, family-oriented community, with a significant retirement sector, that takes pride in its low crime rate and high-quality police and fire protection. We are ideally located between the entertainment and excitement of Las Vegas and Henderson, and the recreation paradise of the Lake Mead Recreation Area, containing North America’s largest man-made lake.

Even though Boulder City is controlled by a slow-growth ordinance and therefore remains a small community, we host many large events. Art in the Park and Spring Jamboree are two of the largest events in Boulder City drawing nearly 100,000 guests to the Historic District. You’ll never find a dull weekend, as there is always something happening. The attractions and recreational opportunities have put Boulder City on the International map. Bootleg Canyon is world renowned for its amazing and extreme mountain biking. It is home to an exciting zip line, soaring visitors over the breathtaking views of Bootleg Canyon and Hemenway Valley. If visitors look really hard while sailing through the air, they might spot one of the many Big Horn Sheep lying on the cool grass of Hemenway Park.

Boulder’s friendly atmosphere and enjoyable pace really gives you a sense of down home charm. We’d love to have you join us for a relaxing stroll through Old Town, play a challenging golf game at one of the golf courses, do a little shopping in the business corridor, or enjoy an appetizing meal at a favorite restaurant.

No matter what mood you arrive in, Boulder City will bring a smile to your face and will draw you back time and time again.

Midland, Texas, is Your Window to the West, conveniently located on Interstate 20, halfway between Dallas and El Paso. It is home to Midland International Airport, the closest airport to Big Bend National Park, serviced daily by American, Continental, Southwest and United Airlines. An oasis in the Chihuahuan Desert, Midland is a thriving city that is full of culture and nightlife. Our “sky’s the limit” spirit can be felt everywhere from our “Tall City” downtown to the bright lights of our sport stadiums.

Midland was established in 1881. Texas Pacific Railroad started laying railroad tracks westward from Fort Worth and Southern Pacific began laying tracks east of El Paso. They met halfway between the two cities at what was first known as “Midway.” They later discovered there was already a town in Texas named Midway, so the name became Midland. Midland was incorporated in 1906.

Prior to World War I, Midland was a prosperous railroad town serving the surrounding ranching community. However, on May 27, 1923, the future of Midland changed with the discovery of oil. At 6:00 a.m., just 70 miles southeast of Midland, the Santa Rita No. 1 blew, forever changing the city.

Today, Midland is a thriving community of over 100,000. Although petroleum products are still the economic mainstays, the community has a stable, multi-faceted economy. The Permian Basin, of which Midland is the geographic center, contains 25% of the nation’s oil reserves.

As you tour Midland, you will travel back some 230 million years as you journey through a unique marine diorama and oil history at the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum. Visitors will learn not only how oil is formed, but the fascinating history of how the industry has progressed and what it has meant to the Permian Basin. They will also encounter the world’s largest collection of antique oil drilling equipment.

The Haley Memorial Library and History Center preserves the history of Texas and the American Southwest through thousands of books, original interviews and records, art and artifacts, that forever tell the story of Texas’ heritage. It houses one of the largest collections on Billy the Kid as well as the first bell that hung at the Alamo.

Midland’s diverse history takes us from the oil fields to the White House. The George W. Bush Childhood Home takes you back to the 1950’s where George and Barbara Bush raised their young family, unknowing of their great destiny.

Midland is also home to a proud military heritage. Located on the old Midland Air Field, the CAF Airpower Museum is a nationally-recognized museum that houses the world’s largest collection of Aviation Nose ArtTM from the planes flown in World War II. The facility also hosts the CAF AIRSHO each year, drawing visitors and pilots from around the world.

Boasting a fine arts museum, planetarium, and children’s museum, The Museum of the Southwest brings art and imagination to life and fun for kids of all ages. The Blakemore Planetarium recently re-opened and features one of only five Spitz SciDome HD Star Projectors in the world.

With low humidity and plenty of sunshine, Midland is the perfect place to enjoy sports. Come be entertained by professional sporting teams, which include the Midland RockHounds, West Texas United Sockers, & West Texas Rustlers.

With live music, dancing, and cultural events, entertainment is never in short supply. The Midland Community Theatre, the Maverick Players, the Midland Festival Ballet, and the Midland-Odessa Symphony & Chorale allow visitors to enjoy a year-long celebration of the arts.

Starting at the Sibley Nature Center, visitors will learn about our vast and diverse ecosystem and then set out to explore all that the region has to offer. Midland is a great place to begin your West Texas vacation and is within less than a day’s drive to a variety of scenic and recreational areas, state and national parks, that are full of fun!

Midland is the perfect place to host a meeting, conference, or retreat with 185,000 sq. ft. total meeting space and more than 2,700 comfortable & affordable hotel rooms – not to mention our friendly hospitality!

West Texas is known for its flavorful barbecue and spicy Tex-Mex food, and Midland is in no short supply of either. With a wide variety of unique restaurants, guests are sure to savor their experience here. Shopping is also a popular pastime with many shopping centers, boutiques, specialty stores and a mall for lovers of art, fashion, antiques, home goods and more.

Välkommen till lilla Sverige USA! Situated in north central Kansas, with a population of 3, 245, Lindsborg is a true blend of old world heritage and a contemporary vibe. Small town charm is combined with big city culture in this Swedish village boasting red brick streets, European-style storefronts, eateries, working artist studios, museums, galleries and shops filled with Scandinavian imports. In a three block radius of downtown you can view over forty works of “Art in Public Places.” Lindsborg takes its cultural responsibilities seriously, supporting some 60 artists and a dozen art galleries. Settled in 1869 by Swedish immigrant pioneers, adhering strictly to the Lutheran faith and their love of music and the arts, they formed the cultural foundation of today’s Lindsborg.
Lindsborg has many must-see attractions. Five were voted “wonders” in the 8 Wonders of Kansas! contest whose mission is to preserve, sustain, and grow rural Kansas culture.
Coronado Heights – 8 Wonders of KS! Geography
Coronado Heights is the southern most bluff in a series of seven known as the Smoky Hills. The hill is located northwest of Lindsborg off of 13th Avenue (Burma Rd). Coronado Heights is 300 feet
above the valley floor making for truly remarkable panoramic views of the river and landscape below.

Dala Horse Factory at the Hemslöjd – 8 Wonders of KS! Commerce
Hemslöjd is Swedish for “handicraft.” Lindsborg carries on the Swedish tradition of handcrafted items featuring personalized wood Dala horse signs which have become a town icon and welcome symbol.

Herd of Wild Dala Horses – 8 Wonders of KS! Customs
Cast in large fiberglass forms, the Wild Dala’s are unconventionally decorated by local artists depicting contemporary Lindsborg life. Scattered throughout the town, whether you use a map or have an unexpected chance encounter, the Wild Dala’s never fail to surprise and amuse.

Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery – 8 Wonders of KS! Art
The Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery shares the art and legacy of Birger Sandzen (1871-1954), a painter, print maker and educator whose influence on the arts of Kansas and throughout the nation is highly respected.

Red Barn Studio – 24 finalist / 8 Wonders of KS! Art
The Red Barn Studio was the working studio of artist/craftsman Lester Raymer and is now filled with his diverse art and craftwork, most of which are made from recycled materials.

Other attractions include the Old Mill Museum & Heritage Square; the Anatoly Karpov International School of Chess, the first U.S. Karpov chess school; Small World Gallery featuring National Geographic photographer Jim Richardson; the Höglund Dugout, a simple pit which was the first home of a young Swedish immigrant couple; Välkommen Trail, a 2.5 mile all-weather bicycle and pedestrian trail; a public 9 hole year-round golf course; a pool featuring “Thor’s Revenge,” a 153’ long waterslide; and quadricycles (open wheel pedal carriage) for rent at the Hemslöjd.

Celebrating our heritage through art, music and history with a year long calendar of events, Lindsborg truly is a destination for all seasons. The Messiah Festival of Music and Art takes place every year during Holy Week featuring the longest-running performances of Handel’s Messiah in North America, now in its 129th year. The Area Artists’ Studio Open House is a highly anticipated, bi-annual event in April and December filled with prolific artists. Millfest is the first weekend in May, celebrating the history of the mill and the pioneer heritage of the region, featuring guided tours of the mill in operation. Performing on the third and fourth weekend in July, Kansas’ longest running outdoor theatre, the Broadway RFD, presents a stage performance under the stars at Lindsborg’s Swensson Memorial Band Shell. The first weekend in August, Swensson Park is transformed for the Smoky Valley Classic Car Show. Some awards include Police Chief’s Choice, the favorite entry most likely to receive a ticket within the Lindsborg City limits! The Old Mill Museum is filled with the sights and sounds of Old Fashioned Christmas the first two weekends in December. Children can enjoy crafts in the school house and take a moment to write that all-important letter to Santa! A shepherd in traditional dress tells the Christmas story in the warmth of the stable.

Lindsborg also revels in festivals that exemplify the name Little Sweden, USA. Midsummer’s Day Festival, held the third weekend in June, commemorates the town’s Swedish heritage, honoring the longest day of light. Svensk Hyllningsfest is a biennial tribute to the Swedish pioneers celebrated in October of odd numbered years. The festival features art, crafts, special foods, ethnic music, folk dancing, a parade, smörgåsbord, and special entertainment. The Lucia Festival, observed the second weekend in December, is the traditional ceremonial crowning of Lindsborg’s Lucia, a procession, and dancing.

Lodging is available at many different venues. Lindsborg’s three B&B’s are very unique: the Swedish Country Inn inspired by the inns dotting the Swedish countryside; the Rosberg House, a three-story Queen Anne style home built in 1885 and completely refurbished; and Seasons of the Fox decorated in the spirit of the four seasons. Lindsborg also offers two motels, two RV parks and camping by the Smoky Hill River.

Located just off of Interstate I-135, Lindsborg is also accessible from four airports: Wichita Mid-Continent, Salina Municipal, McPherson Airport and Kansas City International. Car rentals, shuttles and taxi services are available.

Intrigued? Do you want to see more? Pick up a guide or let us plan your day at no charge. Prepare for a day of adventure and discovery. Staffed with local residents, the CVB also provides insight into the history and Swedish culture of Lindsborg.
